What's in the notch

Small tools, in the one spot you always see.

Each one opens from the notch and gets out of the way when you move on. Click any of them to try it above.

Privacy

Everything stays on your Mac.

Claude Code talks to the island over a local connection on your own machine. There's no account and nothing is sent anywhere. The island also hides itself from screenshots and screen sharing, so a peek never ends up in front of your team.

Why I built it

I kept losing minutes to Claude Code sessions that had finished, or were quietly waiting for a yes, in a tab I wasn't looking at.

My MacBook's notch was the one spot always in view, so I put them there, then everything else I reach for twenty times a day. I built it with Claude Code.

If something breaks or you'd like something added, open an issue on GitHub or write to hello@tryislet.com. I read every one.

Is it really free?

Yes, free forever. No trial, no ads, nothing to unlock.

What do I need?

A Mac with Apple silicon or Intel and macOS 14 Sonoma or later. On screens without a notch it shows as a small pill at the top.

Do I need Claude Code?

Only for the Claude features. Everything else works without it.

Is it made by Anthropic?

No. It's an independent app that works with Claude Code.

Why does macOS ask before opening it?

Islet isn't notarized by Apple yet, so the first time you open it macOS asks you to confirm. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway, once. The steps are under the download button.

Opening Islet the first time

Islet is a free app from an independent developer and isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm it once.

  1. Open the downloaded Islet.dmg and drag Islet to Applications.
  2. Open Islet. macOS says it can't check it for malicious software. Click Done.
  3. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to "Islet was blocked…", click Open Anyway and confirm. You only do this once.
